Clouds will billow off the page and a flowing stream will reveal its stony bed when using the 95mm Circular Polarizer for Mirage Matte Box from Tilta. It slides into the Mirage, or it can be clamped directly onto a 95mm lens with the Lightweight Filter Clamp-On Adapter (available separately).

The polarizer blocks the light that appears as haze in the sky or a reflection off the surface of the water. Rotate the filter, either by hand or via an optional wireless motor, to find the angle that blocks the maximum amount of unwanted light, highlighting your subject and boosting the contrast of your image.

For the Mirage Matte Box

This polarizer slides snugly into the Tilta Mirage, ensuring that a lens with a 95mm front diameter is perfectly covered. Alternatively, it can be clamped directly onto the lens via the Lightweight Filter Clamp-On Adapter (available separately).

Compatible with the Wireless Motor

The module that controls the polarizer rotation is compatible with the Tilta Wireless Motor (available separately), enabling camera operators to remotely control the polarizer's rotation to find its maximum effect.

The Physics of Polarizers

Polarizers filter out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface, like when sunlight becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. Using a polarizer to block just those light rays results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from nonmetallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

Autofocus and Exposure Control

Linear polarizers distort the incoming light to the point that autofocus and internal light metering are negatively impacted. To correct this, circular polarizers stack a randomizing filter layer behind the polarizer to scatter the light, which enables those camera functions to perform properly.
