The L-plate can be used to place your camera on a tripod. The plate is a more stable attachment than a regular quick release plate. Using the L-plate you can also easily and quickly switch from landscape to portrait mode without shifting the position. The construction of the L-plate is such that all connectors of the camera are freely accessible.
