Key features of Rolux RL-VFU3
- Multiple connections: The RL-VFU3 provides 12 volts, 8 volts, and 5 volts of power. Below, you can find more information about connecting various devices.
- 15mm rod: Easily slide the RL-VFU3 onto a 15mm rod, for instance, on your ENG camera or rig.
- D-tap port: The RL-AC16S has a D-tap port, a universal standard that allows you to power additional accessories, such as an LED lamp on your camera.
Connecting RL-VFU3 to your equipment
With the RL-VFU3, we provide cables for various cameras, monitors, and USB devices:
- Canon LP-E6N dummy battery: The RL-VFU3 comes with a dummy battery. It looks like the real battery and comes with a cable that connects to the battery plate. This makes your Canon camera think that an LP-E6N battery is connected, while in reality, you connect a larger V-mount battery via the battery plate.
- Extension cable for Canon LP-E6N dummy battery: You also need this included extension cable to connect the Canon LP-E6N dummy battery to the battery plate.
- USB-A: You can connect any USB-A cable to the battery plate, allowing you to charge your smartphone, for example.
- 5.5 x 2.1 mm DC plug: This cable has a USB port on the other end. Connect it to the USB port on the battery plate to provide 5 volts via the DC plug.
- 5.5 x 2.5 mm DC plug: Monitors often use this plug, delivering 12 volts through this connection.
Using RL-VFU3 in practice
You can use the RL-VFU3 with various devices, whether on a film set or during an ENG production. At one moment, you power your camera, and a moment later, you can power your LED lamp, monitor, or smartphone. Almost all V-mount batteries are suitable, as long as they deliver between 10 and 17 volts. The voltage is automatically converted, depending on the port used. To stop the power supply, use the built-in switch. Secure the RL-VFU3 to the 15mm rod using the two tightening knobs. Alternatively, attach the metal clip with the included screws to the back of the RL-VFU3. This allows you to fasten it, for example, to your belt or your camera's case.
