Design and Optical Performance

This lens incorporates 17 elements in 11 groups, including four aspherical and four Special Low Dispersion elements to reduce flare, ghosting, and various aberrations. Its optical performance meets or exceeds other Sigma Art lenses such as the 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art. The 11-blade rounded diaphragm enhances sharpness and produces smooth, large bokeh when used wide open.

The lens maintains an 11-inch (28 cm) minimum focusing distance across the zoom range, achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.8 (0.21x) at 40mm, increasing depth of field and versatility in close-up shooting.

Video Production Features
