This filter is dark at the top and has a soft transition to the transparent lower part. The dark upper part helps to reduce the brightness of the air while the transparent part does not affect the light. This provides a more balanced illumination of the clear skies and the dark ground. Because you determine the position of the gradient with the rotating ring, you choose what the dark and what the light surface is.
