The Laowa Proteus cine lenses feature a patented anamorphic design, favored by professionals for their smooth oval bokeh and unique flares. With a constant 2x squeeze factor, they deliver an ultra-wide aspect ratio, essential in the film industry.
When used with a 43 sensor, the lens produces a cinematic 2.661 aspect ratio, while a 65 sensor yields a 2.41 ratio, both cropping to an ideal 2.391 aspect ratio. The lenses support the S35+ sensor format, covering the Alexa 35 and Red V-Raptor 7K sensors effectively.
The large T2 aperture facilitates low-light filming, providing sharp images and excellent background isolation, with optimal quality at T4. The close focus distance is just 48 cm, enhancing the characteristic thin and elongated bokeh typical of anamorphic lenses.
Available flare colors include Blue, Amber, or Silver.
