The Laowa Proteus cine lenses feature a patented anamorphic design, favored by camera professionals for their smooth oval bokeh and unique flares. With a constant 2x squeeze factor, these lenses deliver an ultra-wide image format, essential in the film industry.
When used with a 43 sensor, the lens produces a cinematic 2.661 aspect ratio, while a 65 sensor yields a 2.41 format. Both configurations crop to an ideal 2.391 aspect ratio, supporting S35+ sensor formats, including the Alexa 35 and Red V-Raptor 7K.
The large T2 aperture allows for low-light filming, providing sharp images even wide open, with optimal quality at T4. The close focus distance is just 48 cm, and the 2x squeeze factor enhances the bokehs unique characteristics.
Available flare colors include Blue, Amber, or Silver.
