Usage and Effects

Polarising filters are most effective when used at a 30-40 degree angle to reflective surfaces such as glass or water, reducing glare and reflections. The effect is minimal when the sun is directly overhead or at a 90-degree angle. Rotating the filter while looking through the camera viewfinder allows you to adjust the polarisation effect before setting exposure controls.

To deepen the blue of the sky and enhance cloud contrast, position the camera at a right angle to the sun when it is 30-40 degrees above the horizon. The filter also reduces atmospheric haze, which can cause distant subjects to appear bluish, resulting in clearer and more vibrant landscape images.
