Canon EW-83E Lens Hood

The EW-83E Lens Hood from Canon is a 77 mm petal-shaped lens hood designed specifically for the 17-40mm f/4L USM and the 10-22mm EF-S lenses.

Functionality

Lens hoods primarily prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the front element. This reduces lens flare and improves image contrast. Additionally, the extended hood provides extra protection against accidental impacts to the lens.
