Fast, versatile prime lens
The LUMIX G 25mm / F1.7 ASPH. combines a fast f/1.7 maximum aperture with a compact, lightweight design. Its large aperture creates soft background blur for photography and video, and helps you capture subjects in dim light without using a flash.
The 25 mm focal length provides a 50 mm equivalent field of view on a 35 mm camera. Its natural perspective, similar to human vision, suits a wide range of subjects and occasions. Adjust your composition to create a more dynamic view or move in closer to your subject.
Optical design and focusing
The lens system comprises 8 elements in 7 groups, including two aspherical lenses and one Ultra-High Refractive Index (UHR) lens. Designed to deliver strong low-frequency contrast, it produces clear, sharp images with consistent rendering from the center to the edges while suppressing spherical aberration and distortion. An inner focusing system maintains high resolution and contrast from the closest focusing distance to infinity.
A stepping motor provides smooth, quiet focusing for both still photography and video recording. When mounted on a LUMIX G mirrorless camera, the lens supports the camera’s high-speed, high-precision Contrast AF system with 240 fps digital signal exchange.
Aperture and construction
The seven-blade aperture has a rounded shape that produces smooth, attractive out-of-focus areas at wider aperture settings. A durable metal mount is designed for active use, while multi-coated lens elements help minimize ghosting and flare.
