Freewell Brandon Li 86mm Variable Density ND/CPL Filter Set

The Freewell Brandon Li Cine Pro Kit 86 mm is a comprehensive filter set from the Cinema series, designed for lenses with an 86 mm thread and larger photographic and film lenses. The kit combines a 1–5-stop variable ND filter with an independently adjustable CPL, an additional ND32 filter that extends the light-reduction range to 6–10 stops, and a 1/4 Cine Glow Mist filter for subtle diffusion. The system uses magnetic mounting with a mechanical lock. The set also includes an 86 mm base ring, front and rear caps, and storage and cleaning accessories.

Independently Adjustable VND and CPL

The main module combines a variable ND filter and a CPL polarising filter, with each function adjusted separately. Use the black ring to adjust VND density across a range of 1–5 stops, and the green ring to set polarisation and reduce reflections from water, glass and other non-metallic surfaces. Adjust exposure first, then set the polarisation level independently without adding a separate CPL filter.

Light Reduction from 1 to 10 Stops

The VND/CPL module provides adjustment from 1 to 5 stops. Attaching the included ND32 filter extends the operating range to 6–10 stops. The ND32 can also be used on its own with the 86 mm base ring as a fixed 5-stop filter, providing additional kit configurations. This wide range helps maintain the desired shutter speed and aperture in both soft light and bright daylight.

Cine Glow Mist 1/4 and Quick Magnetic System

The Cine Pro version includes a Cine Glow Mist 1/4 filter, which gently diffuses bright areas, softens highlights and creates a softer, more cinematic look. Use the Glow Mist filter directly with the base ring or attach it magnetically to the VND/CPL module to change the image look without reconfiguring the entire setup. Magnets enable quick attachment, while a short twist mechanically locks the filter in place to reduce the risk of accidental detachment during mobile shooting.

Larger Cine Design and Colour Control

The main VND/CPL module has an outer diameter of 109.5 mm, is 7.6 mm thick and weighs 62.2 g, making it suitable for larger lenses. Its optical system uses 18-layer optical coatings and True Color / Anti-Color Shift Layer technology, designed to minimise unwanted colour shifts when adjusting filter density. The front cover has an integrated grey card for white-balance control. The Cine system is compatible with dedicated 82 mm, 86 mm and 95 mm Cine rings.
