Freewell Brandon Li 86 mm Variable Density ND/CPL Filter Set
The Freewell Brandon Li 86 mm Cine Kit is a comprehensive filter set for video and still photography, designed for use in a variety of lighting conditions. It includes a 1–5-stop VND/CPL filter, an ND32 filter that reduces light by 5 stops, and an 86 mm base ring with a magnetic mounting system. Combining the VND/CPL with the ND32 filter provides up to 10 stops of light reduction, helping maintain suitable exposure settings in bright conditions. Developed in collaboration with filmmaker Brandon Li, the system is designed for efficient use with both photographic and cine lenses.
VND/CPL – Exposure Adjustment and Glare Control
The VND/CPL filter lets you adjust the light reaching the lens across a range of 1 to 5 stops. This makes it easier to use a wide aperture and maintain an appropriate shutter speed in bright environments. Its integrated polarising function helps reduce reflections from glass, water and other reflective surfaces, giving you greater control over the captured image.
ND32 – Additional 5 Stops of Light Reduction
The kit includes an ND32 filter made of tempered glass, providing a constant 5-stop light reduction. Use it on its own with the 86 mm base ring when a fixed reduction is required, or combine it with the VND/CPL filter. Together, the filters provide up to 10 stops of light reduction, particularly useful when shooting in bright daylight.
86 mm Magnetic Mounting System
The 86 mm base ring allows system components to be attached quickly without repeatedly screwing in filters. The magnetic mechanism and locking system enable efficient configuration changes during use and reduce the steps needed to change a filter.
Covers and Storage Accessories
Front and rear covers protect the system components during transport and storage. The front cover has an integrated grey card for quick white balance checks and adjustments. The set also includes a filter case, a cleaning cloth and a clip-on holder for the case for convenient everyday carrying and use.
