Optical Performance
The lens incorporates 14 elements in 12 groups, including three double-sided aspherical lenses and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements, to deliver high resolution and sharpness from edge to edge. Coma flare is well controlled, making it suitable for detailed starry night photography. The compact design measures 69mm in diameter and 67.4mm in length, weighing approximately 250g.
Autofocus and Handling
Equipped with a stepping motor driving a lightweight focus lens, the autofocus is smooth, fast, and precise, suitable for both stills and video. Focus breathing is minimized to reduce angle of view changes during focusing. The Canon RF mount version features a control ring for intuitive aperture and exposure adjustments.
Coatings and Durability
Advanced optical coatings reduce flare and ghosting, ensuring high contrast images in various lighting conditions. The lens is dust- and splash-resistant with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element, suitable for challenging outdoor environments.
