Product Description
The Canon Extender EF 2X III is designed for select Canon EF mount L-series telephoto lenses, doubling the focal length of compatible lenses while maintaining excellent image quality. It features redesigned optics, enhanced data communication between lens and camera, and improved environmental protection to ensure optimal performance in various shooting conditions.
This extender is ideal for photojournalists, wildlife, nature, and sports photographers who need to capture distant subjects without carrying heavy telephoto lenses.
Optical Design and Coatings
The extender incorporates nine optical elements arranged in five groups to improve optical performance. All elements are treated with Canon's Super Spectra coating to minimize ghosting and flare. Additionally, a new fluorine coating on the front and rear elements repels water, fingerprints, and smudges, making cleaning easier.
Communication and Autofocus
An integrated processor facilitates accurate transfer of imaging data between the lens and camera body, ensuring all focusing, metering, and identification information is available. When used with the latest Canon L-series lenses, autofocus accuracy is maintained even for moving subjects. Note that the 2x extender reduces the effective maximum aperture by two stops.
