Limitations

Autofocus

• Continuous autofocus and video autofocus are not supported; performance may be unsatisfactory.
• Autofocus may not work if the maximum aperture of the lens plus any EF Extender or teleconverter is smaller than f/8.
• The first two autofocus attempts calibrate the lens and may not lock successfully; a second half-press of the shutter button is recommended.
• Autofocus may struggle with subjects very close to the lens's minimum focusing distance.
• Sony E-mount 1.4x teleconverter (model SEL14TC) fits and works but may cause unsatisfactory AF performance and significant vignetting with some telephoto lenses.
• Autofocus accuracy depends heavily on lens design and condition; lenses with internal issues may cause unreliable autofocus on Sony cameras.

Other Limitations

• No support for lens corrections such as peripheral shading, chromatic aberration, and distortion.
• Use of Canon Cinema lenses like CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 for still photography is not supported.
• Some EF-mount lenses may produce audible noises during iris changes and autofocus, which can be picked up by the camera's built-in microphone during video recording; use of an external microphone is advised.
• Early Tamron VC lenses may not switch freely between OIS and IBIS due to lack of IS activity reporting; later Tamron VC lenses with USD or PZD motors are compatible.
• Some aftermarket battery grips may cause erroneous aperture changes; this is a known issue unrelated to the adapter.
