Compatibility and Construction

  • Adapter for mounting Canon EF mount lenses on Sony Alpha E-mount cameras (NEX series and Alpha series).
  • Compatible with Sony models including NEX-3, NEX-5, NEX-6, NEX-7, a6000, a5000, a3500, a3000, Alpha A7, A7R, NEX-VG10, VG20, etc.
  • Not compatible with Sony a7S, a7 II, a7S II, a7R II, and STM series lenses such as EF 50mm f/1.8 STM or EF 18-135 IS STM.
  • Constructed from brass and anodized aluminum for durability and a smooth surface finish.

Features and Usage

  • Manual adapter without electronic contacts; does not support autofocus, auto diaphragm, or aperture control.
  • Diaphragm control must be set manually on the lens.
  • Infinity focus is supported with a slight positive shift of the infinity mark (∞) on telephoto lenses to compensate for temperature-induced focus shifts; the shift range is indicated by an L-shaped line on the adapter.
  • When adapting APS-C lenses to full-frame cameras, vignetting may occur; some cameras can correct this by adjusting the APS-C crop setting.
  • Adapting full-frame lenses to APS-C cameras provides excellent edge-to-edge sharpness by using the lens's central 'sweet spot' and magnifies the focal length by approximately 1.6x on Canon, 1.5x on Nikon and Sony, and 2.0x on Micro Four Thirds cameras.
  • To use the adapter, set the camera's "Release shutter without lens" option to "Enable" to avoid "No Lens Attached" warning and allow shutter release.
  • Proper installation involves rotating the adapter about 90 degrees until a light click is heard; avoid excessive force when attaching.

Additional Notes

  • Most Canon EF lenses lack a manual aperture ring; when used with this fully manual adapter, the aperture will default to the smallest f-stop.
  • The adapter is designed for Sony Alpha E-mount cameras only and is not compatible with Sony A-mount cameras.
