Limitations

  • No video autofocus support for Olympus cameras
  • Continuous AF (AFC) and Flexible AF (AFF) modes are not supported
  • Panasonic video autofocus may exhibit hunting or less satisfactory performance compared to native lenses
  • EF-mount lenses produce audible click noises during autofocus and iris adjustments, which may be picked up by the camera's built-in microphone; use of an external microphone is recommended for video recording
  • Iris changes occur in 1/8 stop increments and are not smooth, potentially noticeable in video; programmed exposure and shutter priority modes are not recommended for video
  • No support for in-camera corrections such as peripheral shading, chromatic aberration, or distortion correction

Autofocus Performance

The adapter provides autofocus with an optimal balance of accuracy, speed, consistency, and reliability, especially when used with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera bodies and fast lenses. Autofocus speed and accuracy have been significantly improved, though some limitations apply depending on lens and camera model.

Manual Focus Lens Compatibility

Improperly made M42 screw mount adapters may short the electronic contacts of the Speed Booster adapter, potentially damaging the adapter and/or camera body. Focus confirmation chips are incompatible. Many manual focus lenses have rear protrusions (spikes, levers, or other appendages) that can damage the optics or housing of the Speed Booster adapter and require modification before safe use.

  • Pentax K (All Pentax K-mount lenses have protruding fins and aperture levers and do not fit)

Users should verify no rear protrusions exist on the adapter/lens combination before use to avoid damage. Scratches or damages caused by rear protrusions are not covered by warranty.
