The compact Tascam SERIES 102i is a versatile USB audio/MIDI interface designed for guitarists, songwriters, and small studio owners. It offers up to ten audio inputs and two audio outputs for Mac, Windows, or iOS devices, supporting recording and playback at resolutions up to 192 kHz / 24 bit with high-quality Tascam audio performance.
DSP Mixer Features
Equipped with a powerful internal DSP mixer, the SERIES 102i includes built-in digital reverb, compressor, phase invert, and a four-band EQ for each channel. This internal processing eliminates latency issues and reduces the computer's processing load, ensuring efficient audio handling. The included custom software allows full control of the interface and mixer settings. A new USB driver enhances stability for reliable performance throughout all project phases.
Inputs and Preamps
- Two analogue mic/line/instrument combo inputs with XLR/TRS balanced connectors
- High-grade Ultra-HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) microphone preamps with ultra-low noise (Equivalent Input Noise: –127 dBu)
- Individually switchable +48 V phantom power on XLR inputs
- Each TRS input can be switched to instrument level for direct guitar or bass recording
- Gain controls, signal, and peak indicators on each analogue input
- Optical multi-channel audio input (ADAT/S-MUX compatible) for expansion with up to eight additional inputs
Optical Input Expansion
The multi-channel optical port supports up to eight channels of audio input from ADAT- or S/MUX-compatible devices, allowing a maximum of ten inputs total (four inputs at 192 kHz). It supports the following input configurations:
- 8 inputs at 44.1/48 kHz
- 4 inputs at 88.2/96 kHz
- 2 inputs at 176.4/192 kHz
This input expansion is ideally suited for use with the Tascam SERIES 8p Dyna microphone preamplifier.
Outputs and Monitoring
- Two balanced 6.3 mm TRS monitor/line outputs with level control
- Direct monitor option for low-latency monitoring
- Monitor mix control to balance live input signals with computer playback for zero-latency overdubs
- Two 6.3 mm headphone outputs with dedicated level controls (18 mW per channel)

Design and Usability
The angled tabletop design provides easy access to all front-panel controls. A large front-panel Monitor knob allows quick adjustment of monitor output level, while the Monitor Balance control enables mixing of live input with playback for efficient overdubbing.
