Fully Multi-Coated Optics
Fully multi-coated lenses serve a crucial purpose - to maximize the amount of light passing through the lens, thereby reducing glare and ghosting disturbances in your view. Pentax applies multiple coating layers to each element and prism surface across the Sport Optics range. These fully multi-coated optics ensure maximum light transmission, providing a clear and sharp view of the world.
Enhanced Light Transmission Coatings
Pentax binoculars elevate optical quality to a new level by applying a new optimized film coating technology on the lens and prism surfaces, increasing light transmission and producing bright images with accurate color reproduction.
BaK4 Prisms
Thanks to its excellent refractive index, the BaK4 glass prism used in all Pentax Z binoculars is highly regarded for its ideally round exit pupil and clear, vignette-free image.
Phase Correction
The complex roof prism binocular optical design ensures a sturdy, compact, and lightweight construction, but requires a higher level of optical perfection. All roof prism binoculars are coated with a phase correction coating to maximize image viewing quality.
Unique Hydrophobic Coating
Water droplets on the lens negatively affect light entry. By using a unique water-repellent coating on all external lenses, we cause water droplets to transform into small, deformed droplets. These deformed droplets create less distortion and slide off the lens more easily. Your binoculars remain fully functional even in rain, snow, fog, or condensation conditions.
Inter-Focus Optical Design
This sophisticated optical design is exceptional for ensuring low maintenance and long service life. It avoids exposure to airborne particles and moisture, ensuring that external influences cannot enter the housing and disrupt functionality.
Hybrid Aspherical Lens Elements
Edge-to-edge sharpness is a crucial element for comfortable viewing. To achieve this, Pentax uses aspherical lens elements in its eyepieces. This specially designed lens construction minimizes aberration. Hybrid aspherical lens elements have the added advantage of excellent functionality while being lightweight and compact.
Dielectric Coating
The dielectric coating on the prism enhances image color. Multiple surface correction coating layers are "deposited" onto the prism surface in a vacuum. This maximizes the quality of visible light in the color spectrum between infrared and ultraviolet radiation as it passes through the glass.
Nitrogen Purged
Nitrogen is an inert element, a colorless gas with no odor or taste. It contains very little moisture, making it ideal for "purging" binoculars and telescopes from high humidity in our environment. Due to the low moisture factor, nitrogen prevents condensation from forming on the internal lenses of optical instruments during rapid temperature changes. Additionally, since nitrogen is injected into the optical instrument at a pressure slightly above atmospheric pressure, dust and other fine particles are kept out of the housing.
Exceptional Shock Resistance
The body is made of magnesium, which increases durability while keeping the binoculars lightweight. Additionally, the external rubber coating provides excellent shock and impact resistance.
