The Tilta MB-T12-M85 is an ultra-lightweight 4x5.65 carbon fiber clamp-on matte box that mounts directly to cinema lenses (85mm-114mm with included single backing). It supports up to three 4x5.65 filters, includes an adjustable top French flag for flare control, and comes with a 15mm LWS rod adapter for rod-mounted use, all while weighing just 2.6 lb (1.18 kg) net.
This matte box combines a full carbon-fiber body with aluminum and stainless-steel internals, making it one of the lightest 4x5.65 matte boxes available. It clamps directly onto standard cinema lens fronts via a single included backing ring, eliminating the need for donuts and keeping the setup clean and fast. The matte box accepts up to three 4x5.65 filter trays (two standard + one optional rotating), features a foldable carbon-fiber top flag with smooth tilt adjustment, and includes a removable 15mm LWS rod adapter for traditional rod-mounted configurations. Ideal for gimbal, Steadicam, or handheld work where every gram counts, yet still offers full flare protection and multi-stage filter capability.
