Performance and Design

The Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT delivers powerful and responsive flash performance with advanced wireless communication. It offers up to 2.0x faster continuous operation than its predecessor, aided by Quick Flash settings and a flash-readiness indicator to prioritize shutter operation even when the flash is not fully recharged.

Its dust- and water-resistant body, inspired by Canon's EOS-1D series cameras, features sealed exterior seams and a weather-resistant hot shoe adapter to enable reliable use in challenging environments.

Flash Coverage and Zoom

The flash covers focal lengths from 20mm to 200mm, with an extendable wide panel providing coverage as wide as 14mm. It automatically adjusts zoom based on the camera's sensor size (full-frame or APS-C) to optimize power and energy consumption.

Improved Continuous Flash Performance

Constructed with heat-resistant materials and a redesigned optical and internal structure, the 600EX II-RT achieves 1.1 to 1.5 times faster continuous flash when self-powered, and 1.5 to 2.0 times faster when used with the optional Compact Battery Pack CP-E4N. Enhanced flash control algorithms and Quick Flash functions reduce unfired flashes for more reliable operation.

Wireless Flash and Multi-Camera Operation

The Speedlite 600EX II-RT supports both optical and radio wireless flash control. Optical wireless slave operation works up to 15 meters indoors and 10 meters outdoors. Radio transmission extends wireless flash range up to 30 meters without requiring line of sight.

Up to 16 flash and camera units can be synchronized simultaneously for multi-angle and multi-directional photography. Remote shutter release is also possible when used as a slave unit with compatible EOS DSLR cameras.

Radio Wireless System

Operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies, the radio wireless system supports two-way communication between up to 5 groups. It overcomes directional and obstacle limitations of traditional optical systems. Fifteen transmission channels and customizable radio IDs help prevent interference and misfiring.

Accessories Included

• Bounce Adapter SBA-E3 for wider, softer bounce lighting
• Color Filter SCF-E3OR1 to warm flash output by blending with incandescent light
• Color Filter SCF-E3OR2 to correct red fogging from interior lighting
• Soft case to hold the flash and accessories, with belt loop for portability

User Interface and Customization

The dot matrix LCD panel displays detailed flash modes, custom and personal function settings, and status indicators for master and slave units. Backlit buttons ensure visibility in all lighting conditions. A flash-readiness indicator provides instant status confirmation.

Fifteen custom functions allow extensive control over flash exposure compensation, bracketing, modeling flash, AF assist, power saving, beep sounds, and more. Personal functions include LCD illumination color and master/slave configurations.

Flash Head Movement and Features

The flash head supports easy bounce flash with tilt angles from -7° down to +90° up and 180° rotation left and right. A bounce lock with release button secures the head position. A catchlight panel creates attractive catch lights in subjects' eyes for enhanced portrait effects.
