Optical and Mechanical Design
The lens offers a versatile ultra-wide to wide-angle zoom range equivalent to 15-30mm on a 35mm full-frame camera, ideal for landscapes, architecture, cityscapes, and interiors. Its optical design includes 14 elements in 11 groups, incorporating three aspherical elements to maintain sharpness and clarity throughout the zoom range. The Super Integrated Coating enhances contrast and color accuracy by suppressing internal reflections.
The internal focusing mechanism moves only internal lens groups, maintaining the lens length during focusing and enabling faster autofocus performance. Full-time manual focus override is supported.
Image Stabilization and Autofocus
Vibration Reduction (VR) technology compensates for camera shake, allowing sharper images during handheld shooting. The AF-P pulse stepping motor provides smooth, quiet, and rapid autofocus suitable for both still photography and video recording.
