It is designed for full-frame sensors and fully compatible with Super 35 formats, delivering an equivalent 22-35mm T8 range in Arri Alexa 35 Open Gate mode, making it ideal for commercial filmmaking.

Dual Lens System for Comprehensive Macro Perspectives

The 0° (direct view) and 90° (periscope) probe zoom lenses cover 95% of probe shooting angles available on the market. The 90° lens features a 360° rotating ring for flexible horizontal adjustments, enhancing camera movement and framing options. Its right-angle design unlocks endless macro creativity with adjustable focal lengths.

The 90° lens incorporates a newly designed square front element to improve relative illumination and reduce light loss. A simplified prism structure with a PET silver-coated reflective layer enhances reflectivity, maintaining a constant T8 aperture and consistent brightness across all focal lengths. Note that images captured with the 90° lens require mirror correction.

360° Periscope Shooting Modes

• Front Mode (0°): 30 cm probe shaft moves in a 55 cm arc for smooth vertical shots in tight spaces.
• Oblique Mode (0-180°): Dual rotation rings enable Dutch angles and horizon adjustments without quality loss.
• Rear Mode (180°): Foldable design with 360° rotation for dramatic "barrel roll" effects in confined areas.

Modular System for Easy Detachment

The specially designed inter-lens mount system offers exceptional flexibility for detachable kits, allowing seamless transitions from pre-production to on-location shooting. It supports diverse team requirements and expanded framing options. A modular detachable version is available, providing greater flexibility and reliable support for creative workflows.

Note: The detachable model cannot be upgraded to a complete unit, and the fixed model cannot be disassembled or interchanged.

Optical Design and Image Quality

The X-tract 18-28mm T8 0° lens features 7 high-refractive-index (HRI) lenses and 6 extra-low-dispersion (ED) lenses, balancing size and weight while minimizing chromatic aberrations, distortions, and common optical flaws in probe lenses. Its innovative differential distribution of HRI lenses delivers prime-level image quality and accurate color temperature, effectively reducing the yellowish tint often seen in other probe lenses.

Distortion is maintained within ±2% across the zoom range, with near-zero distortion and focus breathing at 24mm, ensuring precise rendering of intricate micro-details.

Enhanced Creative Control

The combination of prism structure and 360° rotating ring adds an additional dimension for creative adjustments, providing a more immersive macro experience. The lens series features a smooth 300° focus throw, tested for high-frequency durability and micron-level assembly precision, enabling precise focus shifts and flexible depth of field control.

The X-tract lenses have a parfocal design, locking focus during zooming. This ensures sharp focus when capturing subtle movements or quickly changing focal lengths, enabling the classic Hitchcock dolly zoom effect even in macro shooting.
