Power and monitoring

The SmallRig 6655 D-Tap dummy battery power cable supplies continuous power to compatible Sony cameras using an external power source, such as a V-mount battery. Its built-in display shows the input voltage and power status in real time.

  • Above 13.0 V: the green indicator stays on to show sufficient power.
  • Below 13.0 V: the red indicator lights or flashes to warn of low power.
  • If the D-Tap connector is inserted in reverse, the display shows no voltage and reverse-connection protection is triggered. Reconnect it in the correct direction to resume normal operation.

An upgraded chip supports camera compatibility without warning messages. The dummy battery is moulded to the dimensions of the original battery for smooth installation and removal. Safety features include overvoltage, overheating, overcharge, short-circuit and reverse-connection protection. The battery housing is made from flame-retardant ABS.
