Product details
Lensless panoramic pinhole camera
The Holga 120WPC is a wide-angle medium-format pinhole camera with no optical glass lens. Light passes through a tiny, precisely drilled pinhole directly onto the film. WPC stands for Wide Panoramic Pinhole Camera. Popular with lomography photographers, it produces extremely wide, dreamlike panoramic images with extensive depth of field and pronounced vignetting, or darkening towards the edges.
Film and image formats
- Film: 120 roll film (medium format)
- Image formats: 6 × 12 cm panoramic images, with 6 exposures per roll, or 6 × 9 cm images, with 9 exposures per roll, using the interchangeable masks
Exposure and operation
- Fixed aperture: approximately f/135, with a pinhole diameter of approximately 0.3 mm
- Angle of view: approximately 120°
- Focus: fixed focus; the image is rendered with consistent depth of field from close distances to infinity
- Shutter: manual Bulb (B) mode only
- To take a photograph, open the pinhole cover with the mechanical slider, time the exposure manually—for example, with a stopwatch—and close the shutter again.
- At f/135, exposures typically take several seconds to several minutes. A stable tripod and cable release are therefore essential.
- A basic exposure guide for ISO 100 film is printed on the back of the camera.
Features and image character
- Built-in spirit level, 1/4-inch tripod socket and cable-release socket
- No optical viewfinder; guide lines on the camera top provide an approximate framing reference.
- Without a lens, the camera avoids the optical distortions associated with conventional wide-angle lenses. Images have a soft overall sharpness, while pronounced light fall-off towards the corners creates a dramatic, vignetted look.
