Dual-Bay RAID Enclosure

The OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual RAID is an empty enclosure for two 3.5-inch SATA drives. It supports SATA 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0 Gb/s drives; drives are not included. RAID 0 and RAID 1 require identical drives.

RAID Modes

  • RAID 0: Stripes data across both drives for increased speed; preconfigured.
  • RAID 1: Mirrors data across both drives for redundancy.
  • Span: Combines the capacity of both drives without redundancy.
  • Independent/JBOD: Presents each drive separately.

Connectivity and Performance

Connect via USB 3.1 Gen 1 at up to 5 Gb/s or eSATA at up to 6 Gb/s. Use one interface at a time. Specified peak read/write rates are up to 401/407 MB/s over USB and 412/407 MB/s over eSATA. Actual performance depends on the drives, RAID mode and host system.

Design and Power

The enclosure features an aluminium chassis, fan cooling, drive-status LEDs, a hardware RAID selector and automatic drive spin-down. Its dimensions are 7.1 × 13.5 × 22.7 cm (W × H × D), and its empty weight is approximately 1.0 kg. The external universal autoswitching power supply accepts 100–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz and provides 12 V DC at 4 A.
