Compact and Accurate Light Metering
The Sekonic Flashmate L-308X-U is a pocket-sized, highly accurate light meter designed for measuring both ambient and flash lighting. It also supports video work with dedicated Cine and HD Cine modes, making it a versatile tool for photographers and cinematographers alike.
Measurement Capabilities
- Equipped with a sliding lumisphere for incident light measurement.
- Measures reflected light via a lens with a 40° reception angle.
- Wide metering range from 0 to 19.9 EV at ISO 100.
- Flash metering range from f/1.0 to f/90.9 at ISO 100.
- Repeat accuracy rated at less than 0.1 EV on repeat exposures.

The L-308X-U combines three metering modes to meet the needs of modern image creators:
Photo Mode
- Full exposure control for photographers on location or in studio.
- Displays flash and ambient light readings and ambient EV measurement.
- Includes Shutter Priority and new Aperture Priority modes for depth-of-field control.
HD Cine Mode
- Compact solution for cinematographers scouting locations or on set.
- Selectable frame rates and shutter angles with one-tenth stop accuracy.
- Includes ISO 850 to match native ISOs of many professional cinema cameras.
Cine Mode
- Designed for digital cinematography professionals.
- Selectable frame rates and shutter angles for precise exposure control.
- Offers Lux (lx) and foot-candle (fc) readouts for lighting setup.
Measurement Methods
- Lumisphere: Provides incident light readings for accurate exposure and lighting setup before talent arrives.
- Lens: Measures reflected light for brightness of subjects, gray cards, light sources, or window light.
- Lumidisc (optional): Enables flat subject or lighting contrast measurement, useful for green screens and ratio adjustments.

- Includes ISO 850 for compatibility with popular video cameras.
- Backlit LCD display automatically activates under EV5 for easy reading in low light.
