Settings are easily adjusted by touching or sliding a finger across the screen, providing an intuitive user experience similar to modern touchscreen devices.

This meter simplifies mixing ambient light and flash by allowing users to select measurement modes tailored to their shooting style. It can measure the brightness of individual lights or the total exposure from multiple sources, with flash readings available via cord or wirelessly. The touchscreen interface enables quick comparison, analysis, and display of lighting data for optimal results.
Flash Power Control with Elinchrom Skyport
The L-478DR-EL model integrates with Elinchrom Skyport wireless triggering systems, enabling separate selection and adjustment of flash brightness for up to four lighting groups (1, 2, 3, 4) in 0.1 increments directly on the touchscreen. The F-number for each light is displayed centrally and above each group button, maintaining a visual record of brightness differences to easily determine lighting ratios. After adjustments, all flashes can be triggered simultaneously for a total exposure reading. Additionally, it can measure and adjust modeling lamp brightness on Elinchrom flashes for cine and video lighting applications.
Camera Calibration and Exposure Profiling
The meter supports exposure profiling to match the dynamic range of your camera and lens combination. By photographing a target and uploading the data via USB, users can calibrate the meter to their camera's specific dynamic range, which can span up to ±10 stops. This process helps ensure highlight and shadow details are accurately captured, reducing post-processing time and costly reshoots. Up to ten profiles can be created and stored using Sekonic or X-Rite targets, or by manually entering profile data. This feature enhances confidence in exposure settings and streamlines workflow.
Cine Functionality
The L-478DR is also a full-featured filmmaking light meter, suitable for photographers who also work in film or those planning to expand into cinematography. Wireless triggering is built-in and not a user-installable option, making the L-478DR ideal for users requiring integrated radio control. For users not needing wireless triggering, the L-478D model is recommended.
