The LAOWA 100mm f/2.8 2:1 Ultra Macro APO lens features a unique continuous macro adjustment range up to 2x magnification, distinguishing it as the only 100mm lens with this capability. Its optical construction includes 12 lens elements arranged in 10 groups, incorporating apochromatic (APO) correction to minimize chromatic aberration. This results in razor-sharp images free from color fringing, from close focusing distances to infinity.
The lens produces a beautifully soft bokeh thanks to its circular aperture, which ranges from f/2.8 to f/22.
Focal Length and Usage
With a 100mm focal length, this lens excels not only as a macro lens capable of 2:1 magnification with a minimum focusing distance of 24.7 cm but also as an ideal portrait lens delivering crystal-clear sharpness and attractive background blur.
Compatibility and Aperture Control
This lens supports multiple mounts including Sony E, Canon EF, Nikon F, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and Leica L. It features an aperture motor for Canon EF cameras enabling automatic aperture transmission, allowing focusing at wide apertures and transferring EXIF data to the camera body. For Nikon cameras, the lens includes a diaphragm coupling. Aperture and focus are manually controlled on Sony E and Nikon mounts, with spring aperture on Nikon F and electric aperture on Canon EF.
Lens Elements and Aberration Control
The optical design includes two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberration and optical distortion to a minimum, ensuring excellent sharpness across the entire image field.
