Compact 50mm Prime Lens
The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG Contemporary is a compact, full-frame standard prime lens for L-Mount cameras. Designed for portrait, lifestyle and everyday photography, it combines a classic rendering character with responsive autofocus.

Optical Rendering
Designed to be used wide open at f/1.4, the lens produces gentle softness within the focus plane, smooth bokeh and attractive background rendering. Its classic optical character gives images a natural sense of depth across the frame, making it well suited to portraits and everyday snapshots. One FLD element and three aspherical elements help control distortion and ghosting for clear images.
Autofocus and Handling
The Rotary Direct Drive focus system uses coils and magnets arranged in a circle to match the lens barrel. This provides a slim, high-torque autofocus mechanism while limiting the increase in lens diameter. The whole-lens focusing system delivers modern autofocus performance and can be switched to manual focus by turning the focus ring. Autofocus is slower than STM or HLA systems, so the lens is less suited to video autofocus.
A physical aperture ring, depth-of-field and distance scales, and the absence of an AF/MF switch contribute to its classic handling and appearance.
I-Series Construction
Part of Sigma’s I Series, the lens combines optical performance and a compact design for mirrorless cameras. Its all-metal barrel is durable yet lightweight. Knurled focus and aperture rings, plus an included knurled metal lens hood, provide tactile control. A magnetic metal lens cap is included for convenient lens protection. The lens has a dust- and splash-resistant design.
