On APS-C format cameras, it provides an equivalent focal length range of 225-750mm, making it ideal for capturing landscapes, birds, sports, and wildlife photography.
Optical Construction and Coatings
- Consists of 25 elements in 16 groups.
- Incorporates special lens elements including XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion), and GM (Glass-Molded Aspherical) elements to minimize chromatic aberrations, color fringing, and distortion.
- Each element is treated with BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating to reduce flare and ghosting, enhancing contrast and color fidelity.
Autofocus and Stabilization
- Equipped with a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor for fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance compatible with Sony Hybrid AF and Eye AF features.
- Minimum focusing distance of 60 cm (23.6 inches) at 150mm allows for dynamic close-up imaging.
- VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization supports handheld shooting at the 500mm telephoto end with three modes: standard, panning, and framing priority.
