The Unitree R1 Basic is a lightweight humanoid robot approximately 121 cm tall, designed as a platform for robotics and artificial intelligence development. Its compact design and dynamic movement enable it to walk steadily, climb stairs and respond to obstacles. Intuitive controls and support for popular simulation environments help users test and develop algorithms.
Smooth Movement and Natural Dynamics
The compact, lightweight frame allows the robot to operate in spaces designed for people. With 24 degrees of freedom, the Unitree R1 Basic moves smoothly and confidently, navigating stairs, avoiding obstacles and adapting its movements to its surroundings. Its dynamic yet controlled motion makes it suitable for testing and demonstrations that require natural humanoid movement.
Movement as a Form of Expression
The robot moves smoothly and decisively, maintaining stability during changes in position. Users can program complex movement sequences, transitions and choreography, including martial arts-inspired demonstrations, for experimentation and performance.
Programming and Development
The platform provides access to joint and sensor controls, allowing users to shape the robot’s behaviour through software. Create individual actions, combine them into sequences and build complete behavioural scenarios. The system supports integration with large multimodal language models and popular simulation environments, helping transfer algorithms from virtual simulations to real-world testing.
Environmental Perception
A wide-field-of-view binocular camera captures visual data to support spatial orientation, navigation, obstacle avoidance and responses to changes in the environment.
Communication and Interaction
The integrated audio system includes a speaker and microphone array. It supports voice commands, message playback and pre-programmed interactive scenarios. Combined with environmental perception and precise movement, this makes the robot suitable for demonstrations, performances and educational activities.
Computing and Power
An eight-core CPU provides computing capacity for movement control, data processing and AI algorithms. The robot is powered by a lithium-ion battery, providing approximately 1 hour of operation per charge. Its quick-swap battery system helps minimise interruptions during testing, lessons and demonstrations.
