Sensor and Lens
The Panasonic AW-UE5 features a 1/2.8-type MOS sensor combined with an F2.45 ultra-wide-angle lens, providing a 121° horizontal field of view. This wide perspective allows the camera to capture areas that traditional PTZ cameras might find difficult from the same position, making it ideal for small rooms or as an additional ultra-wide camera in multi-camera setups.
AI-Powered Intelligent Framing
The AW-UE5 includes AI-driven automatic framing functions that reduce the need for manual camera control during meetings, lectures, and presentations.
- Group Framing: Automatically adjusts framing based on the number of people in the capture area. It zooms in for a single person and widens the view as more participants join, dynamically optimizing the frame as people enter or leave.
- Preset Framing: Allows predefining zones within the wide field of view, such as a podium or stage. When a person enters these zones, the camera automatically switches to the preset framing, enabling dynamic broadcasts without manual operator intervention.
These AI framing and ePTZ features operate in the ePTZ/AI priority mode.
Ultra-Wide 121° Field of View
The ultra-wide 121° horizontal field of view enables the camera to capture nearly the entire room from a relatively short distance, making it especially suitable for meeting rooms, lecture halls, and other spaces where traditional camera placement is challenging.
This wide image also provides the source area for electronic pan, tilt, and zoom (ePTZ), allowing digital selection and movement of the desired frame within the captured image instead of relying on mechanical camera movement.
In ePTZ/AI priority mode, the digital zoom factor can reach up to 5x, with digital panning and tilting available after zooming to adjust composition and create various camera angles from a fixed installation position.
Smooth 4K Video up to 60p
The AW-UE5 supports video output up to 3840 × 2160 resolution at 60p/59.94p or 50p, providing smooth motion rendering suitable for presentations, conferences, events, and production environments.
There are two main operating priority modes:
- ePTZ/AI Priority Mode: Offers intelligent framing and digital PTZ functionality with 4K output up to 30p/29.97p or 25p.
- 4K High Frame Rate Mode: Prioritizes 4K 60p/59.94p or 50p output; AI framing and digital zoom are not available in this mode.
This flexibility allows configuring the AW-UE5 according to the use case: automated intelligent framing for meetings and presentations or higher frame rate 4K output for smooth motion.
Multiple Interfaces: HDMI, IP, and USB
The AW-UE5 is designed to integrate into various audiovisual and production workflows, offering simultaneous HDMI, IP, and USB outputs.
- HDMI output can be used for local monitors or video switchers.
- IP video integrates into network production environments supporting NDI HX2 and NDI HX3 protocols.
- USB connection allows use as a USB webcam with MJPEG output supporting up to 3840 × 2160 resolution.
This versatility makes the camera suitable for hybrid installations combining traditional AV equipment, IP production, and computer-based communication.
The built-in stereo microphone provides audio capture for applications requiring simple integrated audio solutions.
Advanced IP Streaming and Protocol Support
The camera supports NDI HX2 and NDI HX3 for efficient high-quality video distribution over existing IP networks, simplifying integration with compatible production equipment and software.
It also supports H.264 and H.265 IP streaming, as well as MJPEG, RTSP, RTMP, and RTMPS workflows. RTMP/RTMPS support enables streaming to compatible online platforms and services without requiring traditional hardware video output.
Easy Installation with Single-Cable Power
The AW-UE5 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) according to IEEE 802.3af and USB power, simplifying installation by reducing cable clutter.
- PoE allows a single LAN cable to provide power, video transmission, and camera control, ideal for permanent or ceiling-mounted installations.
- USB-C connection can supply power from a computer, enabling video, control, and power over one USB cable without separate AC adapters.
With a compact size of 123 × 131 × 139 mm and weight of approximately 0.5 kg, the camera can be discreetly placed on a table or mounted using the included mounting hardware.
