Featuring a range of focal lengths from 14mm ultra-wide angle to 135mm, covering super-wide angle to portrait focal lengths, the NiSi Athena Cine Lenses provide exceptional versatility, making them ideal for a wide range of shooting scenarios and allowing you to capture a wide variety of subjects.
Optical Performance
The lenses boast a T-stop rating, measuring the actual amount of light transmission through the lens, ensuring consistent exposure across all focal lengths. The 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, and 85mm lenses have a maximum aperture of T1.9, enabling soft bokeh for beautiful background separation. The 18mm and 135mm lenses have a maximum aperture of T2.2, while the 14mm lens has a T-stop of T2.4.
They feature an impressive image circle of 46mm, making them suitable for full-frame and large-format sensors. The series offers ultra-low chromatic aberration and micro-contrast control, delivering unparalleled image quality with finer image details.
Design and Features
The Athena Prime lenses are designed to minimize focus breathing, ensuring that the change in field of view when adjusting focus from minimum focus distance to infinity is extremely small regardless of focal length or aperture setting.
Proprietary Rear Filtration System
- The lens series features a Drop-In filter mount for greater flexibility and creative control.
- RF-, L-, and G-Mount lenses have a Drop-In filter option.
- E-Mount lenses come in two versions: with and without Drop-In filter.
- PL-mount lenses utilize a rear filter.
- Important: Sony FX9 camera cannot use the E-Mount with Drop-In filters.
- Using the Drop-In clear filter on RF-, L-, G-, and E-mounts and the rear filter on PL-mount is essential to achieve infinity focus and clear images.
- NiSi provides weather sealing for the Drop-In filter.
Consistency and Compatibility
All NiSi Athena Prime lenses are similar in weight, eliminating the need for rebalancing on a gimbal when switching lenses. Except for the 14mm lens, all share the same 77mm filter thread. Aperture and focus rings are matched across the range.
Each lens features a 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales displayed in both imperial and metric units for precise focus pulls.
The lenses include standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears, compatible with a wide range of follow focus and matte box systems.
Additional Accessories
The NiSi 77mm close-up lens (sold separately) can be used to reduce the minimum focus distance and create macro effects.
