MITOYA LANTERN is a unique spherical softbox designed to provide even, soft, and natural lighting ideal for wide photo and film sets. Its spherical canopy, resembling a ceiling lantern, scatters light at an angle up to 270°, reducing the number of lamps needed on set. The softbox measures 65 cm in diameter and 55 cm in depth, making it compact and suitable for small or confined spaces.

Design and Construction

The softbox features an umbrella design for quick folding and unfolding, supported by a central frame and twelve flexible fiberglass ribs. These ribs are coated with a non-slip material to securely tension the canopy without slipping on the diffusion fabric, facilitating easy handling and repositioning with the lamp. The white diffusion material includes reinforcement in the central front area to protect against abrasion from repeated use. High-quality materials ensure durability and long-term performance.

Mounting and Accessories

Equipped with an integrated BOWENS mount adapter, the MITOYA LANTERN is compatible with a wide range of studio flashes and LED continuous light sources. Included is a removable Velcro-mounted light directional jacket that acts as a light spill control screen. The jacket is matte black on the outside and silver on the inside, allowing precise light direction and enhancement, especially useful when the softbox is positioned centrally above the subject.
