The Focus Optimum 30-60x85 V2 APO VHG ED is the most technically advanced telescope produced by the company, designed specifically to meet the needs of hunters, birdwatchers, and nature observers operating in some of the world's toughest environments.
Optical System
The optical design is based on a three-element apochromatic objective consisting of two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses and one Fluoride HD lens. This combination effectively eliminates chromatic aberration and color fringing that degrades image quality at high magnification, providing sharp detail representation with high contrast across the entire field of view. The result is realistic color reproduction and excellent sharpness even in low light and reduced lighting conditions. The 85 mm objective aperture collects a significant amount of light, making the telescope effective during dawn and dusk, precisely when animal activity is highest. All lenses feature an enhanced FMC (Fully Multi-Coated) coating that maximizes light transmission, reduces glare, and repels water, dirt, and fingerprints.
Magnification and Focusing
The telescope offers a variable magnification range from 30 to 60 times, providing flexibility to scan wide areas at lower power and zoom in on fine details at the upper end of the range. The centrally located focus wheel is designed with deliberate resistance, allowing for precise adjustments even while wearing heavy winter gloves, a practical consideration in sub-zero temperatures in the Nordics, where temperatures can drop below -30°C.
Construction and Durability
The body is made from an aluminum-magnesium alloy, combining structural rigidity with low weight. It is covered with a durable rubber armor that protects against impacts and provides a secure grip in wet or cold conditions. The angled eyepiece design reduces the effective mounting height on a tripod, improving stability and reducing fatigue during prolonged observation. The rotating eyepiece is suitable for use with or without glasses.
Compatibility and Accessories
The tripod mount is compatible with Arca-Swiss, allowing for direct mounting on most modern ball heads and quick-release systems without additional adapters. The telescope comes with a protective neoprene case and a cleaning cloth.
