Product details

NiSi Explorer Collection 150x150 mm Neutral Density Filter IRND64 (6 Stops)

Durability and Material: This filter is crafted from special B270 tempered glass, making it twice as durable as typical glass filters. It features an IR coating and a Nano coating that repels dirt, water, and oil, ensuring clear and clean images without affecting color rendition.

The tempering and hardening process significantly reduces susceptibility to accidental damage, though the filter is not unbreakable and the hardening effect may diminish over time.

Compatibility

The NiSi Explorer 150x150 mm filters are compatible with the NiSi 150 mm filter system and can be used on lenses with filter thread sizes ranging from 49 mm to 95 mm.

Usage and Applications

Neutral Density (ND) filters reduce the amount of light entering the lens, allowing for longer exposures and wider apertures to create effects such as motion blur and shallow depth of field.

  • ND8 / 3 stops: Ideal for photographing waterfalls and water flow with shutter speeds between 0.5 and 2 seconds.
  • ND64 / 6 stops (this filter): Commonly used during the "golden hour" (shortly after sunrise or before sunset) to achieve exposures of 1 to 2 minutes, creating smooth water or cloud effects. Also suitable for capturing dynamic water textures before the golden hour.
  • ND1000 / 10 stops: Suitable for daytime use when bright ambient light requires significant light reduction, enabling exposures up to 5 minutes during the golden hour with proper settings.
