Achieve Shorter Focal Length
Designed specifically for Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, this unique lens reduces the telescope's focal length and f/ ratio by 37%, converting a long focal length telescope into a fast, short focal length instrument. For example, an f/10 focal ratio becomes f/6.3, and an f/11 becomes f/7. Visually, this results in lower magnification with the same eyepiece and a wider field of view. Photographically, it provides a wider field and significantly shorter exposure times.
Usage Instructions
The Reducer/Corrector is installed by threading it onto the rear cell of the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope or the reducer plate of the C11 and C14 models. After installation, additional accessories such as T-Adapters, 1.25” Visual Back, Star Diagonal, or Off-Axis Guider can be attached.
It is also suitable for terrestrial digiscoping, where the faster f/ ratio allows the use of slower film or shooting in lower light conditions while maintaining proper exposure. The fully multi-coated lens ensures maximum light transmission with near full-field illumination.
Plastic covers should be placed on the lens when not in use to minimize dust accumulation.
Construction and Optical Performance
The lens is housed in machined aluminum with a black anodized finish. Internal surfaces are blackened and glare-threaded to maximize contrast. The knurled surface provides excellent grip for threading and unthreading.
While the design reduces some field curvature common to Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, it does not eliminate it entirely. High power views benefit from flatter fields to the edge, both visually and photographically.
