Dock, Launch, Explore
Leave complicated star charts, imprecise planetarium apps, and computerized mounts behind. With StarSense Explorer, locating celestial objects is easier, faster, and more accurate. Within minutes of setup, navigate the sky confidently by placing your phone in the unique StarSense dock and launching the StarSense Explorer app. After a quick 2-minute alignment of your phone to the telescope's optics, the app generates a list of visible celestial objects. Select an object and follow on-screen arrows guiding your telescope movement. When the target is in view, the bullseye indicator turns green.
Smartphone Compatibility
Compatible with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and later, and most Android devices running version 7.1.2 or later manufactured since 2016.
StarSense Sky Recognition Technology
Utilizes patent-pending technology and your smartphone to precisely determine the telescope's pointing direction. The Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA), similar to those used by satellites, matches star patterns detected overhead to an internal database. Unlike other apps relying solely on phone gyroscopes and accelerometers, StarSense Explorer accurately indicates when your target is visible in the eyepiece.
Sturdy Altazimuth Mount
The simple altazimuth mount allows easy movement to locate targets. A slow-motion altitude adjustment knob enables fine-tuning and tracking of objects as they drift across the sky. The mount is supported by an adjustable, full-height tripod.
Dazzling Views with High Quality Optics
The 70 mm refractor telescope delivers sharp, bright views. Fully coated glass optics enhance light transmission and reveal detailed celestial features. A 90-degree erect image diagonal allows comfortable daytime viewing of birds, wildlife, and landscapes.
Perfect for City or Dark Sky Observing
Even in light-polluted urban areas, the telescope can reveal Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, double stars, and other prominent celestial objects. In darker locations, many more objects become visible. The entire kit weighs approximately 4.2 kg, making it portable for camping or remote observing.
