Complete Telescope Set for Astronomy Beginners
Explore the night sky with the BRESSER Pollux-II reflector telescope, featuring a 150 mm aperture and 1,400 mm focal length. This set includes everything needed to start observing celestial objects immediately: the telescope, equatorial mount, height-adjustable aluminium tripod, and a range of accessories for detailed observations.
Catadioptric Reflector Telescope Design
This Newton-type reflector telescope incorporates an additional lens inside the focuser, classifying it as a catadioptric system. This design allows for a relatively short telescope tube despite the long focal length, making it portable and providing a comfortable viewing position. Observations are made from the front and side of the telescope, avoiding the need to bend down when pointing vertically upwards.
Optical Performance
- 150 mm aperture collects ample light for bright, detailed images.
- Focal ratio of F/9.3 (1:9.3) enables high magnifications with good contrast.
- Ideal for observing the Moon, planets, open star clusters, globular clusters, and bright planetary nebulae such as the Ring Nebula (M57).
- Maximum practical magnification up to 300x with sharp images; theoretical magnification up to 1,050x with included accessories, though image sharpness and atmospheric conditions affect viewing quality at high magnifications.
Image Orientation and Usage Notes
The Newtonian reflector design produces images that are laterally reversed and upside down, which is suitable for astronomical observation but less ideal for daytime nature or landscape viewing. For daytime terrestrial use, refractor telescopes are recommended.
Stable Equatorial Mount and Tripod
The telescope mounts on an equatorial EQ3 mount attached to a height-adjustable aluminium tripod. After alignment by pointing the mount's axis towards Polaris, celestial tracking requires adjustment on only one axis, simplifying tracking of objects. Two flexible shafts with fine adjustment controls enable precise and comfortable positioning. An accessory tray between the tripod legs provides convenient storage.
Included Accessories for Versatile Observations
- LED illuminated red dot finder for easy sky navigation and precise alignment.
- Two eyepieces (4 mm and 20 mm) with standard 1.25 inch (31.7 mm) diameter sockets for varying magnifications.
- 3x Barlow lens to triple eyepiece magnification.
- Solar filter for safe daytime observation of the Sun, including sunspots and solar granulation. Warning: Never observe the Sun without the solar filter attached.
- Smartphone adapter to capture astrophotography images of the Moon, Sun, and other celestial objects using a smartphone camera.
