SmallRig 6127 28mm Waist-Level External Optical Viewfinder
This external optical viewfinder provides a 28 mm full-frame-equivalent field of view, with built-in bright frame lines for 35 mm and 50 mm focal lengths. It covers focal lengths commonly used in street and documentary photography. For street scenes and low-angle compositions, the waist-level viewing position supports relaxed, deliberate framing and can draw less attention from subjects. Its top-down viewing experience recalls classic Hasselblad and Rolleiflex cameras.
Optical design
The viewfinder uses a precision four-element optical design with a Fresnel lens and multi-layer nano AR coating. Light transmittance is up to 85%, and distortion is controlled within ±15%. The result is a bright, clear optical view with no visible colour fringing, preserving the direct visual character of optical composition.
One-touch hood and construction
The magnetic, one-touch opening hood combines the protective cover and hood in a single structure. It opens in one quick motion with a crisp click. In bright conditions, it helps suppress stray light; when stored, it protects the optical elements.
The viewfinder is made from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy with an anodised finish and vintage leather-style trim. Its materials, colours and surface finish complement a range of mainstream camera bodies. Weighing 62 g, it folds neatly into the camera’s lines.

A standard hot shoe mount with a spring-loaded structure provides secure attachment and broad camera compatibility.

Viewing notes
- Close-range parallax: The minimum viewing distance is 0.5 m. At distances under 2.0 m, the captured image appears slightly lower than the view framed through the viewfinder. Compose slightly higher to compensate.
- Viewing distance: A distance of more than 0.4 m is recommended. If wearing glasses, position your eye as close as possible to the eyepiece to help minimise edge vignetting.
