The Blackmagic SDI Expander 8x12G is a converter that connects 12G-SDI equipment to SMPTE-2110 IP systems via 100G Ethernet. It supports 8 bidirectional 12G-SDI connections and features 2 separate 100G Ethernet ports for SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy.
The device converts 8 independent 12G-SDI channels to SMPTE-2110 while simultaneously converting another set of 8 SMPTE-2110 channels back to 12G-SDI, totaling 16 conversion channels in a single 1RU rack-mount device. SMPTE-2110 connections utilize two 100G Ethernet ports for full SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy, ensuring reliable broadcast operation with dual redundant AC power supplies.
