Landscape, portrait, travel, journalism, and sports photography benefit from the versatile 24-70mm F/2.8 lens with its all-round focal range and high brightness. Equipped with image stabilization, it allows spontaneous shooting even in low-light conditions without a tripod.
Class-leading stability with dual processors
The lens features an upgraded Vibration Compensation (VC) system powered by dual microprocessors: one dedicated to autofocus driven by an Ultra Sonic Drive (USD) for faster and more accurate focusing, and the other dedicated to image stabilization. This advanced system compensates for camera shake up to five shutter steps compared to normal handheld shooting.
Advanced optical design
The optical construction consists of 17 elements in 12 groups, including three XR glass elements and two LD glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration. Four aspherical elements (three cast glass and one hybrid aspherical) reduce distortion and ensure high resolution and sharpness across the entire image field at all focal lengths and apertures.
Tamron's eBand coating effectively reduces reflections, enhancing contrast and color saturation. The front lens element features a fluorine coating for easier cleaning and increased scratch resistance.
Improved mechanics
All moving parts have been refined for better performance. The zoom mechanism offers increased smoothness and precision. The Nikon version now includes an electromagnetic aperture for faster and more accurate aperture control, beneficial for both action photography and video recording.
TAP-in Console compatibility
The lens supports the Tamron TAP-in Console, enabling firmware updates, autofocus fine-tuning, and image stabilization adjustments.
