The Metabones ARRI PL to RF T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x adapter enables mounting ARRI PL Prime lenses onto Canon RF-mount APS-C cameras, such as Canon EOS C70, R7, R10, R50, and RED Komodo. It enhances the maximum aperture by 1 stop and widens the field of view by a factor of 0.71x, effectively reducing the crop factor and improving image quality.

Optical Design and Performance

  • Advanced 5-element/4-group optical design incorporating ultra-high index tantalum-based optical glass developed by Caldwell Photographic in the USA (patent granted).
  • Improves corner sharpness, reduces distortion, and minimizes vignetting for superior image quality.
  • Increases Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) for enhanced contrast and resolution across the frame.
  • Transforms professional-grade f/2.8 zoom lenses (e.g., 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8) into faster high-speed zooms (e.g., 17-50mm f/2.0, 50-142mm f/2.0).
  • Converts fast prime lenses such as 50mm f/1.2 into approximately 35.5mm f/0.9 lenses with excellent edge-to-edge sharpness.

Compatibility and Usage

  • Designed specifically for attaching full-frame ARRI PL Prime lenses to Canon RF-mount cameras and camcorders with APS-C sensors.
  • Optimized for use with Zeiss CP.2, CZ.2, and CP.3 lenses; other PL lenses may be used only if the rear element does not protrude more than 14.5 mm beyond the flange.
  • Intended for APS-C format cameras or APS-C crop mode on full-frame EOS R series cameras.
  • Not compatible with lenses outside the approved compatibility list to avoid physical damage.

Build and Features

  • Positive-lock PL lens mount ensures secure attachment.
  • Felt material flocked inside the opening reduces internal reflections.
  • Satin surface finish with durable aluminum alloy and brass construction featuring chromium plating.
  • Detachable Arca-Type tripod foot compatible with Arca Swiss, Markins, and Photo Clam ball heads; can be clamped directly or attached via a 1/4-20 screw to quick release plates.
  • Includes a rubber gasket to protect the RF mount connection.

Limitations and Important Notes

  • Exclusively designed for Zeiss CP.2, CZ.2, and CP.3 lenses; mounting other PL lenses not listed may cause damage.
  • Rear element protrusion of non-listed PL lenses must not exceed 14.5 mm.
  • Best suited for APS-C sensor cameras or crop mode on compatible full-frame cameras.
