It features a bright 1,500 nit adjustable HDR touchscreen, built-in motorized ND filters, a larger NP-F570 battery, and support for an optional electronic viewfinder. The camera incorporates the latest generation 5 color science and a Super 35 HDR image sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600, paired with a popular EF lens mount.
Compact and Durable Design
Constructed from lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite, the camera offers a miniaturized handheld design with a multifunction handgrip. This grip provides easy access to controls for recording, ISO, white balance, and shutter angle. The sensor is engineered to reduce thermal noise, enabling cleaner shadows and higher ISO performance. A large 5-inch LCD screen facilitates precise focusing at 4K and 6K resolutions.
Sensor and Lens Compatibility
The camera features a 6144 x 3456 Super 35 sensor, allowing the use of larger EF photographic lenses. This enables cinematic images with shallow depth of field, creative defocused backgrounds, and beautiful bokeh effects. The active EF lens mount supports focus and iris adjustments via camera buttons or the touchscreen.
Built-In ND Filters and HDR Display
The 6K Pro model includes built-in motorized ND filters with 2, 4, and 6 stops, designed to match the camera's colorimetry and color science. These filters evenly reduce both optical and infrared wavelengths, eliminating IR contamination. Filter controls are conveniently located on the rear of the camera within thumb reach, and filter settings can be displayed on the LCD as ND number, stop reduction, or fraction. The adjustable tilt HDR LCD screen offers 1500 nits brightness, ideal for bright sunlight conditions.
Image Quality and Recording Formats
With 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600, the camera delivers low noise images across various lighting conditions. It supports shooting up to 60 fps at full resolution or 120 fps in windowed mode. Recording is available in industry-standard 10-bit Apple ProRes up to 4K or 12-bit Blackmagic RAW up to 6K. Media files are compatible across operating systems, with support for HFS+ and ExFAT formatting.
Optional Electronic Viewfinder
An optional Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Pro EVF is available, featuring a high-quality 1280 x 960 color OLED display with a built-in proximity sensor and a 4-element glass diopter for precise focus adjustment (-4 to +4). The EVF connects via a single connector, offers a 70-degree swivel range, and includes multiple eyecups for left and right eye use.
Audio Capabilities
The camera includes two professional mini XLR inputs with 48V phantom power for microphones such as lapel and boom mics, allowing recording of two separate audio tracks without an external mixer. It also has four built-in low-noise, shock and wind-resistant microphones, a 3.5mm audio input for video camera microphones, a built-in speaker for playback, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Power and Battery
The 6K Pro uses larger NP-F570 batteries with a locking DC power connector to prevent power loss during shooting. The included AC power adapter can power the camera and charge the battery simultaneously. The USB-C expansion port supports trickle charging from portable battery packs, phone chargers, or laptops. An optional battery grip is available to extend battery life significantly for all-day shooting.
Software Included
All Pocket Cinema Camera models come with a full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio, a professional post-production software suite used in Hollywood. It includes intelligent editing tools, advanced color correction, audio post-production, and visual effects capabilities in a single application.
