Importance of Cleaning Optics

Dust and fingerprints degrade image quality and impair the optical performance of high-quality lenses and filters. Heavy residue on filters or lens surfaces reduces light transmission, causing stray light, ghost images, reflections, reduced contrast, and weakened color saturation. Regular and proper cleaning is essential for serious photographers.

B+W Bellows - Contactless Dust Removal

The bellows is 15 cm long with a durable rubber hand bulb and an attached air nozzle for precise airflow. It effectively removes loose dust from sensitive optical surfaces without contact, including lenses, filters, camera mirrors, watches, telescopes, and other precision devices.

B+W Cleaning Brush - Gentle Dust Removal

Made from very fine, natural, undyed goat hair, the brush gently removes loose dust and dirt from delicate optical surfaces. The 12 cm brush comes in a protective tube to preserve the soft hair tips that glide smoothly over surfaces.

B+W Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

The 20 x 20 cm microfiber cloth is chemical-free and ideal for coated optical surfaces such as photo filters and lenses. Its flat surface allows efficient cleaning. The cloth is washable by hand up to 40°C and should be washed after 8-10 uses with mild detergent.

B+W Lens Cleaner Spray II

This 50 ml pump spray contains a non-alcoholic, highly effective cleaning solution that removes stubborn dirt from sensitive optical surfaces without leaving residues. It is non-flammable, environmentally friendly, and easy to use without propellant gas.

Applications

Suitable for cleaning optical filters, front and rear lenses of DSLR, CSC, MFT, compact cameras, video cameras, camcorders, spotting scopes, binoculars, telescopes, smartphones, tablets, and coated eyeglass lenses.

Recommended Cleaning Procedure

1. Remove loose dust with the cleaning brush or bellows.
2. Apply B+W Lens Cleaner II indirectly using the microfiber cloth and wipe clean with a dry part of the cloth.
3. Surface is clean and ready for use.
