BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G Conversion

The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G enables simultaneous conversion between SDI and HDMI in both directions, supporting different standards concurrently. It supports camera control protocol conversion, allowing integration of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras with professional SDI live production switchers.

Compact and Rugged Design

This micro converter features a miniaturized, robust metal enclosure with professional 12G-SDI and HDMI connectors. It is powered via USB, enabling power from televisions or laptops, and can be purchased without a power supply. The device includes LEDs for status indication and supports software upgrades via USB on Mac and Windows.

High-Quality Broadcast Technology

Engineered with precision electronics, the converter offers very low SDI jitter for long cable runs, essential for live production environments. It supports 8 and 10-bit video formats in RGB or YUV across all SD, HD, and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p60, including film rates such as 1080p24, 1080p47.95, 1080p48, 4Kp24, 4Kp47.95, and 4Kp48. Fully embedded audio and timecode support are included.

Color Accuracy and 3D LUT Support

The converter includes a 17-point 3D LUT for color calibration on the SDI to HDMI model, which can also be output on the 12G-SDI loop output. This allows use as a 3D LUT processor for color-accurate monitoring on low-cost monitors or TVs. Custom 3D LUTs can be created using DaVinci Resolve, which is freely available.

HDR Workflow Compatibility

Supports HDR monitoring with static metadata PQ and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) formats according to ST2108-1, ST2084, and ST425 standards. It handles ST425 bits in the VPID for SDR, HLG, or PQ transfer characteristics and supports transport of HDR metadata over SDI. Compatible with ST2082-10 for 12G SDI and ST425 for 3G-SDI sources. Both Rec.2020 and Rec.709 color spaces are supported.
