The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G is the world's smallest bidirectional converter, capable of converting SDI to HDMI and simultaneously HDMI to SDI. It supports camera control protocols, enabling Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras to interface with SDI switchers. The package includes an AC power supply with international socket adapters for global use.

Design and Connectivity

This ultra-compact broadcast video converter connects consumer HDMI devices with professional SDI equipment. Its rugged metal enclosure and miniaturized design allow use in any environment. It supports professional 3G-SDI connections for all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60. The converter is powered via USB-C, allowing power from televisions, laptops, or included AC adapters. Customers may also purchase the converter without a power supply if desired.

High-Quality Broadcast Technology

Unlike typical small SDI converters, this model features high-quality broadcast electronics with deep bit depth video processing and low SDI jitter, enabling long SDI cable runs essential for live production. It supports 8 and 10-bit video formats in RGB or YUV color spaces, covering all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60, including film rates like 1080p24, 1080p47.95, and 1080p48. Fully embedded audio and timecode support are included.

Software and Customization

Users can update firmware and configure settings via a free converter utility compatible with Mac and Windows. The utility allows renaming the converter for easy identification, setting camera numbers for live production control, and selecting between level A and B on the 3G-SDI output.
