Ilford Rapid Fixer 1L

Ilford Rapid Fixer is a non-hardening, rapid fixer supplied as a liquid concentrate. It is designed for fixing black and white film and photographic paper in both manual and machine processing applications.

Usage and Dilution

• The fixer should be diluted with water before use, typically at a 1+4 dilution ratio.
• Fixing temperature is recommended around 18°C.
• For resin coated (RC) photographic papers, fixing time is 1-2 minutes.
• For fibre based prints, fixing time is also 1-2 minutes.

Fixing Process

The fixing step stabilizes the latent image on film or paper, making it permanent. It is generally preceded by a stop bath rinse and followed by a hypo wash to remove residual fixer, preventing staining and image degradation.

Safety Precautions

When handling and mixing Ilford Rapid Fixer, it is recommended to wear protective gloves, eye protection, and an apron or overall to ensure safety.

Additional Information

Ilford Rapid Fixer is not compatible with fix hardeners. A 5-litre bottle of concentrate can prepare enough working solution to fix approximately 600 black and white films (135-36), 2000 resin coated prints (20.3 x 25.4 cm), or 1000 fibre based prints (20.3 x 25.4 cm).
