The Samyang 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fish-Eye II is a high-quality ultra wide-angle fisheye lens designed specifically for APS-C format cameras, including Fuji X mount. It offers an exceptionally wide 180° angle of view with a 12mm equivalent focal length, delivering dramatic fisheye perspective and extreme depth of field.
Optical Construction and Features
- 11 elements in 8 groups optical design
- Includes 2 glass aspherical (AS) lenses for reduced aberrations
- 3 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration
- Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) on all lens surfaces to reduce flare and ghosting

Performance and Usage
The lens provides excellent sharpness across the entire field of view with high brightness (f/2.8 maximum aperture). Due to the extremely large depth of field inherent to the 8mm focal length, focusing is simplified by setting the approximate distance on the manual focus scale. For critical focus or close-up work, Live-View can be used to fine-tune focus manually.
This fisheye lens is ideal for creating panoramas, 360° virtual tours, and full 360° images. It is also popular for creative photography requiring distortion, exaggerated perspective, or extreme depth of field effects.
